Automatic face recognition is often unreliable because it cannot cope with the changing effects of lighting and pose. The new development is inspired by the workings of the brain, which can recognise a face over a wide range of viewing conditions. Instead of storing standard photographs, the new technique relies on using "average faces", in which many images of the same person are blended together to form what they call a "stabilised image" of that face. An automatic face recognition system is much more accurate - almost per cent - when it "looks" at a face created by merging several photos this way into one average image, report Dr Rob Jenkins and Prof. Mike Burton of the University of Glasgow in the journal Science. The psychologists tested their theory using a publicly available genealogy website, MyHeritage.
A young boy, a patient of his, showed distinct facial features, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. But this is common of many genetic diseases. Abdul-Rahman ordered genetic screenings for several suspected conditions, but they were expensive and came back negative. The app suggested, with a high degree of certainty, a condition he had considered, and he ordered the test.

It is hard to believe that it is six months since the Worldwide Genealogy - A Genealogical Collaboration started! I have to say, the daily blogs continue to entertain and inform me. One of the main reasons for my interest is that recently I have been able to access through a number of sources some pictures on the McGregor Sisters my great Grandmother Catherine McGregor and her family. There are some questions marks as to the identification of some of the people in these photos and it would be nice to clarify who is who. Maybe a Facial Recognition Program will be able to assist me?
